Industrial Revolution
Unprecedented technological and economic development that began during 1830s in UK and spread in varying degrees to the rest of Europe, US, and Japan. It replaced the animal and human power by mechanical power andtransformed agriculture based economies to manufacturing based ones. It seeds lie in the invention (by Thomas Newman of UK in 1712) and development (by James Watt of UK in 1769) of steam engine which was first applied to mining and textile making operations. Industrial revolution shifted the balance of power from the landowning class to the entrepreneurial class, ended the domestic system of production, and created an urban working class.
When physical Labor and animal powered equipment changed to machine powered equipment and electrical watering systems.

·  The industrial revolution had far-reaching consequences which persist even to this day and have completely changed the work world and the nature of the labor force.

In Europe and the United States, industrialization occurred in the 1700s and 1800s, with the changes beginning in Britain. This period is called the Industrial Revolution. Textile manufacturing became mechanized, transportation (canals, railroads, and road systems) became more efficient, and steam power was introduced. Goods became more accessible and cheaper.


Effects of Industrialization
Cities grew because they attracted workers from rural areas with the hopes of getting jobs
What Geographical factors helped Britain become the world leader in Industrialization at that time?
How did investors become rich enough to take chance to move away from agricultural industry to mechanical and electrical industry?
What are factors of Production?
Land ( all natural resources) water, coal, Iron
Capital ( tools machinery equipment, inventory mining)
Labor( population growth, migration into cities, work conditions)
Industrialization spurred imperialism
How did the Trans Atlantic slave trade help to bring on the Beginnings of the Industrial Revolution in England?

Slavery and forced labor helped to yield products needed to spur on the need for machinery, and the money to invest in it.
