World History/Geography 2-14-17

During this month, we will continue to make parallels between the History of Blacks in America and across the world. Today we will analyze the African Independence movement started by Ghana in the 1940's, and the Civil Rights movement started in the 1960's here in America.

Be able to discuss key figures, and some main events of both movements.

What do Pio Gama Pinto and Malcolm X have in common?



The Berlin Conference of 1884–85 was a meeting between European nations to create rules on how to peacefully divide Africa among them for colonization. The conference was convened by Portugal but led by Otto von Bismarck, chancellor of the newly united Germany.
